Â
Alice Stephens was born January 17, 1939 in Brooksville, Florida to Arthur & Relusta Johnson. She attended public schools in Brooksville and graduated from Moton High School in 1957. She married Henderson Stephens, Jr. and gave birth to her only son, Henderson Stephens, III. Both have proceeded her in death.
Alice was a giver by nature. She had a very compassionate and kind heart. She was always willing, supportive and eager to help others. This was indicative through her career choice as well as her active involvement in church. She was employed and retired from the Westchester County Department of Social Services with over 30 year’s service. She was also an active member, trustee and choir member at Community Memorial Church for 15 years before the Lord moved her to Kingdom Christian Cultural Center under the leadership of Pastor James Hassell. Here, she continued in her passion to serve the Lord and serve others. As a mother in the church, she supported and loved her Pastor, First Lady and church family.
The evening of Monday, June 24, 2013, Mother Alice Stephens completed her earthly journey and slipped from our grasp into the Arms of the Lord. God summoned a loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend.
She was preceded in death by both parents, a sister, Estelle Johnson, friend and companion, Robert Cummings and great-nephew DeShaun Johnson. She leaves to cherish and celebrate her life two brothers, Joe Johnson of Brooksville, FL and Daniel Johnson of Okeechobee, FL; two sister-in-laws, who were like sisters to her, Gloria Johnson of Inverness, FL and Shirley Johnson of Okeechobee, FL; nieces, Sonja Stiles (Lozell) of St. Louis, MO, Relusta Bowman (Nathan) of Indianapolis, Andrea Johnson of Beverly Hills, FL, and Syreeta Johnson of Okeechobee, FL; nephews Marvin Johnson of Brooksville, FL , Rontell Johnson of Orlando, FL and Joe Johnson, Jr (Sherry) of Spring Hill, FL; several great nieces and great-nephews and a host of extended family members and friends.
