A Time to be Born
Deacon Archie Bell, Sr. was born January 6, 1943 to the late Oscar Bell and Ozie B. Simmons Bell
A Time to Embrace
Deacon Bell met his Georgia Peach, Mary Lena, upon her arrival to Florida in 1962 and married her on January 10, 1964. With his spouse of 53 years, he helped to raise three children: Archie Lee Jr., Gregory Allen (deceased), and Erica Ann. A Time for Labor
Deacon Bell attended New Jerusalem Church of God Brooksville, where he served in various capacities for many years. He helped to build what we know as the famous Walt Disney World of Orlando Florida and worked at the local Weekie Wachee Springs in its early years. He worked for over 19 years at the old “Juice Plant” located on what used to be Summit Road and went on to work at HCA hospital where he retired in 2002. He was a student of the Hernando County School System where he was an Alumnus of Moton School.
A Time of Joy
Deacon Bell enjoyed sharing his gifted voice as he sang solos, in choirs, and with the Hernando County Male Chorus for over 45 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren and keeping a well-manicured yard. His favorite leisure activity was fishing, where he spent many hours on the lake with his fellow “fishermen” friends.
