Sister Bertha Lee Ruth Clark was born on January 3, 1935, in Rochelle, FL to the late David and Ruth Clark Ivey.
She was baptized at an early age at the Third Bethel Baptist Church of Rochelle under the leadership of Rev. Cato. She was educated in Rochelle, FL and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School.
Sister Bertha Lee was a loving and caring person, who dedicated all of her time to her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and other members of her family. She loved to garden, take walks, and cook. She was well known for her homemade fruitcakes, pound cakes and ice cream.
On December 12, 2008, at Citrus Memorial Hospital, the death angel came to her and said, “Come home my child and take your rest.” And she went home to be with God. She was preceded in death by sisters, Albertha Clark and Blonese White; brother, James Clark.
She leaves to cherish her memories: four sons, David Parker and wife Chris of St. Petersburg, FL, Tony Clark of Inverness, FL, Gregory Clark and wife Jennifer of Inverness, FL and Eddie Thompson, Jr. and wife Reene of Gainesville, FL; two daughters, Phyllis Clark of Neptune, NJ and Dorothy Clark of Inverness, FL; one brother, Willie Clark and wife Albertha of Ocala, FL; four sisters, Everlena Hunter of Neptune, NJ, Rachel Whaley, Shirley Ivey both of Inverness, FL and Daisy Ballard and husband Al of Phoenix, AZ; nine grandchildren, Shakkie, Lenard, Caleb, Gregory, Alexandria, Latoria, Georgganne, Autwan and Kayla; five great grandchildren, Jacquez, Terrnique, Jamya, Jaron and Monie; a host of sorrowing nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
