Obituary for BILL SR. POPE
Obituary
Bill Pope, Sr.
Bill Pope Sr., was born in Uniontown, Alabama on January 06, 1935 to the late Cleveland Pope and Cora Pope Evans. He attended the public schools of Perry County in Uniontown, Alabama. At the blooming age of 17, he put on this traveling shoes in search for a place where “money grew on trees”. His search landed him here in the city of Brooksville, Florida.
In June of 1964, Bill found and married what Proverbs 18:22 describes as his “good thing”, Elder Rebecca Strother Pope. Over their 45 years of marriage, they raised several children, be it their own children, granchildren, or even their God children. Bill worked tirelessly to provide for his family. He labored for over 42 years at Florida Crushed Stone, where he was employed as an Industrial Mechanic.
On April 20, 2009, approximately 5:45 a.m. God saw fit to peacefully call Bill to his heavenly home where his mansion was prepared for him. He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Cora Pope Evans; his devoted sister, Deaconess Annie Bell Brown, and youngest nephew, Willie Jerome Brown.
He leaves to treasure his memory: the queen of his palace, Elder Rebecca Strother Pope; four sons: Willie James Strother (Wendy); Bill “Lil Bill” Pope Jr. (Sharon); Shawn “G”. Wayne Pope (Lashawn) all of Brooksville, Florida and Kevin “Daddy Bo” Devon Pope (Hope) of Kissimmee, Florida; Two daughters: Barbara Jean Davis (Tony) of Chattanooga, Tennessee and Elizabeth “Liz” Arre (Frank) of Woodbridge, Virginia; Twenty-two grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He will additionally be cherished by his brother-in-law, Willie Brown Jr. and the children of his only sister: Cleveland Pope, Sr.; Richard Marcus and Cynthia “Cissye” Brown Jackson, all of Brooksville, Florida. He will be remembered by his three sister-in-laws; Mary Strother Brown; Mariah Frazier (Richard); and Loella Strother, as well as his brother-in-law, Mitchell Strother (Patricia). He will be also missed by his extended Lee family (of Brooksville, Florida and Fort Wayne, Indiana), Strother family and Jones descendents as well as a host of nieces, nephews, God-children, relatives and friends.
