Beulah Mae Lawson
Beulah Mae Lawson was the second of five children born to the late Lanney and Annie Huggins. She was born on November 28, 1941 in Brooksville, Florida.
She was married to her longtime sweetheart, the late Lee Andrew Lawson.
Beulah attended Moton High School in Brooksville, Florida. Beulah continued her education at Gibbs Junior College in St. Petersburg, Florida she received her Associate of Arts Degree. Beulah furthered her education at the great Bethune Cookman College in Daytona Beach, Florida she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education. Beulah was an educator in Citrus and Hernando County for a total of 40 years. Beulah was very active in the community. Beulah was a dedicated member of NAACP, Black Educators Caucus, and Minister Layman Alliance. She joined Mount Zion AME Church at an early age, where she served faithfully in the choir, steward board, usher board and any place her services were needed.
Beulah gave so much to her family and friends. She enjoyed making others happy in her own special way. Beulah enjoyed telling stories, fishing, and attending and watching football games. She especially enjoyed cheering on those Mighty Wildcats, “Wildcats Let’s Go”!
She leaves to cherish her memories: two sons and three daughters; Robert Lawson (Wanda) of Daytona Beach, Florida, Franklin Oliver II (Fat Boy) of Atlanta, Georgia, Tiffany Adams (Eric) of Brooksville, Florida, Martha Maner (Joseph) of Brooksville, Florida, Michelle Jackson (Walter) of Dunnellon, Florida; one brother; Robert Huggins (Diane) of Brooksville, Florida; two sisters, Sillar Townsend (Charles), Sarah Bennett all of Brooksville, Florida; two aunts, Ruby Fletcher of Brooksville, Florida and Inez Inmon of St. Petersburg, Florida; three sister-in-laws Erma Willis of Lakeland, Florida, Marian Spives of Bradenton, Florida, Frances Oliver of Brooksville, Florida; one brother-in-law, Samuel Lawson of Brooksville, Florida; seven grandchildren Jacqueline Maner of Colton, California, Jowatha Maner, JoSandra Maner-Mason (Dante), Quentin Adams, all of Brooksville, Florida; Walter Jackson, Jr. of Seattle, Washington, DiAndre Jackson, and Vivica Jackson of Dunnellon, Florida; Special Nephews, Victor Bennett of Lacoochee, Florida, Carmen Bennett, and Khalil Bennett all of Brooksville, Florida. Special friends Virginia Cox and Delores Wilson, and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
