Kearns, Dennis C. (Denny) Age 82, passed peacefully at home, Thursday, November 16, 2023.
Denny was born August 22, 1941 in Cleveland, Ohio. He is preceded in death by parents Jack
and Lucille Kearns. Survived and missed by brother Tom (Eileen) Kearns; sons, Jeffrey (Kathryn
Olmstead) Kearns, Jon (Marlies Borchers) Kearns; grandchildren, Samson, Chloe and Finley
Kearns, mother to his sons, former wife Sue (Steve Compton) Kearns, niece Dawn (Eric Rich)
Kearns and nephew Dale (Kristen) Kearns. He will also be grieved by wife and loving caregiver,
Sherry Goode; stepson Casey (Caroline) Goode, stepdaughter Cierra (Michael) Caracci, and step
grandchildren Remy, Roxy and Rocco Caracci. Denny was a graduate of Independence High
School of Independence, Ohio, and of Miami University of Oxford, Ohio. He achieved the rank
of US Air Force Captain, and was a Lieutenant Colonel in the US Air Force Reserve, flying
C130s. He retired as a 747 captain after a 33 year career flying for Northwest Airlines. Denny
enjoyed life and sharing his passions with others including flying, surfing, holding court at the
pool bar and never missing Jeopardy! He was a loving father to his sons and a proud grandfather
who will be missed. A private ceremony will be held in the spring for immediate family only.
