History:
 
Brother Gilbert King was born and raised in Brooksville. He graduated from Moton High School. He served in the United States Army. While serving his tour in Vietnam he earned several awards including the purple heart. After military duties Gilbert was a mechanic that specialized in transmissions.
Survivors:
 
He leaves to mourn his passing, a son, Gilbert King, Jr. of Tampa, FL; father, Bishop Leroy Byrd of Tampa, FL; one sister, Evelyn Simmons (Allen) of Gainesville, FL; one brother, who preceded him in death, George Williams (Pasty); brothers, Marvin Byrd (Vanessa), Arthell Williams (Valerie), Timmie King (Mary), Kenneth Delaine all of Brooksville, FL; Jessie Paige (Denise) of Titusville, FL; three aunts, Geraldine Waddy (Fred), Romilee Kincade of Brooksville, FL, Iszala Hayes (Roy) of Tampa, FL; one uncle, Willie Washington of Tampa, FL; three great-aunts, Leontine Clayton, Wanda Fagin of Brooksville, FL and Doretha Byrd of Polk City, FL; one great-uncle, Johnny Dobson of Tampa, FL;  and a host of  nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
