Harold Givohn Stephens

Harold Givohn Stephens was born January 6, 1956 in Brooksville, FL to the late Harold “Buck” Stephens and Minnie Belle Redding Stephens, second of six siblings. Harold attended Hernando High School, Class of 1974 and proceeded to Albany State College where he received his masters in Criminal Justice and excelled in college football. There he also met his lovely wife Goldyn Thompson-Stephens and to this union three girls where born, and four grandchildren, all of whom he love dearly.

He was employed by Job Corps of Albany and the Department of Juvenile Justice, where he later retired after 21 years.

“Heavy” as he was affectionally known, was very humble, loving and a jokeable person, if he didn’t have anything nice to say he wouldn’t say anything. He left a great impact on all whom he encountered and will be truly missed.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Stephens; sister, Denise Paige; and brother, Earl Washington.

He leaves a legacy of love and laughter to his wife, Goldyn Stephens of Orlando, FL; three daughters, LaTara Thompson-Dabney (Michael), Treasea Stephens and Kimberly Stephens all of Orlando, FL; four grandchildren, Lenora Dabney, Omaria Henry, Omar Henry and Caleb Dabney; loving mother, Minnie B. Stephens; caring sister, Harriet Willis; five brothers, Clinton Stephens, Stanley Stephens, Dwight Stephens (LaTanya), Charles Washington and Eugene Redding (Detrice); two sisters, Gloria Harris (Tony) and Martha Maner (Joseph); God-sister, Delores Williams; other relatives, cousins, nieces, nephews and caring friends.
