Obituary for Henry Lee Roberts, Sr.

Deacon Henry Lee Roberts Sr. was born on March 29, 1943 in Estill South Carolina. He was the third child born to Herman and Eva Mae Roberts. Henry was educated in the South Carolina Public school system.

At the age of fifteen, Henry migrated to Northern NJ. Henry subsequently gained employment in construction, working with Laborer Local 472. He worked over 50 years with Exxon Mobil. Henry was awarded for his years of dedication.

In the mid 1970’s, Henry joined Faith Temple Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. William Taylor. He was President of the Male Chorus from 1987-2005 and a Trustee for many years. Henry loved to sing the gospel. The Faith Temple male chorus was well known in NJ.

On October 6, 1988 Henry married his beloved Mary Anderson. They were married for 35 and a half years. Mary affectionately called Henry, “Charlie Brown”. This was in reference to his love for caps that he often wore.

Henry retired and he and Mary relocated to Brooksville Florida in 2005. They settled in their home and they found a new church home at Bethlehem Progressive Baptist Church, where Rev Cecille Hubbert is Pastor. At Bethlehem, he founded the Male chorus. Henry and Mary served faithfully and on November 2, 2008, Henry was ordained a Deacon.

Henry made his transition on June 4, 2024.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Eva Mae Roberts, his father, Herman Roberts. One brother, Ulysses Roberts. Two daughters, Wanda Fuzz and Zakiyyah Roberts. One stepdaughter, Roberta Anderson.
