Ivory  Joe  Bivins, Sr. was  born in Brooksville, FL to the late Bessie  Hopkins-White and Izell Bivins on July 10, 1955. Ivory attended the public schools of Hernando County. During Ivory’s childhood his family moved to Live Oak, FL and then back to Brooksville, FL.

Ivory wanted something better for himself so he enlisted in the United  States  Navy,  where  he  was  stationed  on   both  USS
Roosevelt Aircraft  Carriers. Ivory traveled the world during his tenure with the Navy to include all seven continents. He served from  December 5, 1974  to August  15, 1985 and received an honorable discharge.

Ivory loved down home country and worked many odd jobs,  his advice to all was to work smarter not harder. Ivory was a family oriented man who loved his grandchildren, nieces and nephews to the point you were simply called “grandpa baby”, “niecy”  or “neph”, everyone all had a special place in his heart. A special student  and  nephew, Thomas Scrivens was taught much by Ivory through all his sharing, Thomas had the knowledge to open his own business.

Even on his sickest days, he managed to make you smile with his personality and jokes. The Navy Officer, Father,  Brother, Grandfather, Uncle, Cousin and Friend will be missed by all. Preceding him in eternal rest, his mother Bessie Hopkins-White, brother Crancy Scrivens, sister Francier Evette White and granddaughter Ivoryana Bivins.

He was baptized on June 13, 2007 where he knew Christ in his own way and called on him in the time of need and gave him praise. On December 29, 2013, Ivory felt the pain no more, only the peace of God and was called home to rest in peace.

He leaves to mourn his love, lifelong companion and his “wifey”, Donna Stanley; father, Izell Bivins (Claudis); daughters, Robin Bivins (Jerry), Pamela Haggans, Sheretta Bivins and Tomecka Wright (LJ); sons, Ivory Joe “Bo Pete” Bivins and Edward Stanley; sisters, Linda Scrivens-Clarke, Mary Scrivens-Boles (his personal secretary)  (Frank),  Luviena  Bivins-Brown (Rev. W. Williams), Gloria White-Browdy (Ronnie), Joyce White (Aaron) and Brenda Nix; brothers, Andrew Scrivens (Linda), Clarence Mobley (Suzette), Isaiah Bivins, Eugene Bivins and B. Bivins; aunts, Aretha Proctor (Marvin), Romie Kincade and Odessa Graham; uncle, Andrew Hopkins, Jr.; several aunts and uncles; twenty-three grandchildren and one great-grandchild; several nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
