Jimmie’s Biographical Sketch
Jimmie “Ralph” Gary was born on September 17, 1944 in Hurtsboro, AL. He was the fourth of five children to Johnny and Lucendie Foster Gary, who both preceded him in death.
Jimmie came to Florida in 1963, and began working for the US Railroad Company in 1969. He finished his tenure with the railroad of thirty-four years, and retired in September of 2004. Ralph later joined the First Baptist Church of Shady Rest where he became an usher and sang tenor with Joseph and the Shady Rest Gospel Singers. He was joined in holy matrimony to Crystal Gary in October of 2006, until the present.
He was also preceded in death by his sister, Frankie Lee and his son, Tarrance “PJ” Gary.
He leaves to mourn and cherish his memories, his wife Crystal; son Jeffrey Gary (Bridget) of Raleigh, NC; five daughters, Judy Stroy (Keith) of Jacksonville, FL, Maryann Smiley, Alice Gary, Anita Gary all of Brooksville, FL and Lashaveus Gary of Orlando, FL; two brothers, Joseph Gary (Lisa) of Brooksville, FL and Johnny Gary of Union Springs, AL; two sisters, Lois Sanders (Miller) of Brooksville, FL and Shirley Covington (Johnny) of Hurtsboro, AL; He was a devoted step-father to Christopher, Toi, Erica, Edward, Barbara, Wendy and Tiffany; twenty-one grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and a great friend to many; special niece and nephew, Jerri Gary (Geraldine) of Spring Hill, FL and Jackie White (Lamar) of Clermont, FL; and a dear friend like a brother, Kido Sanders (Gloria) of Bushnell, FL.
