Obituary for JOHNNIE M. REDFIELD
Mrs. Redfield's Life Story
On Thursday, December 23, 2010 the angels of silence came to Brooksville Healthcare Center and with loving fingers sealed the lips of Johnnie Mae Redfield.
She was born on July 31, 1927, the first of two children born to Elsie Carmichael. She was a lifelong resident of Brooksville, Florida. At an early age she was converted, baptized and became a member of Allen Temple AME church in Brooksville. She was known as a quiet and loving citizen. She’s kind, generous and pleasant towards everyone. In addition, she was always happy and with a smile.
Mrs. Redfield as she is called by most, attended Moton High School and graduated from Florida A&M University with a degree in Business Administration. Subsequently, she returned to Brooksville and launched a career that lasted 50+ years. Her first assignment was at Moton High School as the School Administrator. It was in this position wherein she began making a difference in the lives of all students, teachers and other staff members. Most of the South Brooksville residents were connected with her, and today, speak very highly of the positive influence on their lives.
After 50+ years of working within the educational system encompassing Moton High School, Hernando High School and Pine Grove Elementary, she retired in 2006. As a retiree, she remained active and connected with Brooksville community.
Family was foremost with Mrs. Redfield. She loved her family with all her heart. No matter what they needed—few dollars, moral support—and no matter when they needed it, she was always there. Her love for her family was with no question.
She leaves behind a devoted and loving son, Gerald A. Williams & wife Fern of San Diego, CA; Donna Hollis & husband Jeffrey of Inverness, FL; Taryll Anderson & husband Terrence, Tampa, FL; Kenya Tucker, Brooksville, FL; Jawana, Myesha, Kyon Hollis of Inverness, Fl; Patricia Burnett, Elise Burnett, Brooksville, FL; Vernell Blocker, Jamaica-Queens, NY, Betty Harrington, Brooksville, FL; Veronica Parker of St. Petersburg, FL; Johnnie Florence Moore of Virginia; Robert Harrington & wife Alfreda of Brooksville, FL; Lawerence Harrington of San Diego, CA; and a host of cousins & friends: TJ, Auna, Taurian, Tija, Kai & Greyson her adopted Grand Kids. Some special friends we would like to mention Almazine Delaine & husband Howard, Elizabeth & Delores Morganfield, Jean Foxx, Johnnie M. Reid, Gail Moore and Class of 1968 (Son’s graduating class).
