REFLECTION OF LIFE FOR
James Edward Carr

James Edward Carr was born in Brooksville, Florida on March 6, 1960. He was one of eight children of the late Dorothy Mae Smiley Carr Burkes. He is preceded in death by his father, John Milton Carr and his brother, Chester Fred Smiley.

He spent his childhood growing up with his seven siblings in the incorporated area of Hernando County. His community which was affectionately referred to as “the country”, afforded him with the chance to enjoy a quiet and happy childhood. He enjoyed playing with neighborhood friends, fishing and riding his horse. He also loved to dance and enjoyed both reading and writing poetry.

He was educated in the Hernando County School System.  He was a very bright student who excelled in  both mathematics and the sciences.   He had a great sense of humor and was affectionately referred to as a "class clown." 

At age 21, he relocated to Rochester, New York.  He resided in Rochester for more than 34 years.   In 2012, he decided to return home to Brooksville, Florida. Upon his return, he stated that he wanted to spend more time with his family and friends.  

He was given a Christian upbringing by his mother and attended the New Jerusalem Church of God, Brooksville, FL.  His mother instilled in him the importance of faith and family.  Upon his return home in 2012, staying True to his upbringing, he re-dedicated his life to Christ.  
He will be dearly missed by his daughter, Jamecia Hansberry and his grand-daughter, Jalisa.   He leaves to cherish his memories, six dedicated siblings.  They include:  John E. Carr, Sr., and his wife Geraldine, Brooksville, FL., Flora Carr, Brooksville, FL., Gloria A. Carr, Orlando, FL., Sharlene Carr, Brooksville, FL., Nathaniel Burkes, Jr., and his wife Johanna, Spring Hill, FL., and Craig E. Burkes and his wife, Janice of Tampa, FL.

He will also be dearly missed by his ten (10) nieces, eight (8) nephews, eight (8) great-nieces and nine (9) great-nephews.   He also leaves to mourn a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends whom love him dearly.
