Obituary for John Earl Dalton-Hicks, Sr
John Earl Dalton-Hicks SR, 65, was born in Athens,Tennessee on October 19, 1954. He passed away on June 16, 2020 at Advent Health Dade City.

In his younger years, John was a very talented self taught musician, playing for over 50 years. He enjoyed playing his guitar and singing with his friends and family. There wasn’t a song he couldn’t teach himself to play. John worked as a sign erector, eventually going on to own and operate his own sign company,Sign Stuff.

During his free time, one of John’s favorite hobbies was fishing. Whether it was off the pier, in Lake Panasofkee or miles off the coast, John would love to cast his reel and test his luck. On John’s very last fishing trip with his son, Johnny, he caught a 7 1/2 pound bass. He was extremely proud of that and it proved that the Ol’ Man still had it.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Donna Moss of Webster.

His sons:

Johnny (Charice) Dalton of Brooksville, FL and Paul (Mickey) Hernandez of Wesley Chapel, FL.

Daughters:

Bonnie Davis and Brianna Polk both of Sarasota, FL; Jessie Dalton of New Port News, VA; Nicole (Jon) Archard of Fernandina Beach, FL; and Melissa (Chris) Festa of Jensen Beach, FL.

He had 9 grandchildren whom he cherished and loved deeply. Also his two sisters Irene Ellis of Cleveland,TN and Sharon Prince of Webster, FL and many nieces, nephews and cousins he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his father Earl Dalton, mother Margie Hicks and sister Savannah.

But above all else, John loved nothing more than sitting around the table, enjoying quality time well spent with his family and friends.

Till we meet again! “ Don’t forget no pennies in cards”

We will all miss him more than words can say.
