Obituary for Levy Belle Johnson
Levy Belle Johnson
“Where this life ends, eternal life begins.”
On February 2, 1923 Levy Belle was born to the late Emma Sara William White and the late Rev. B.G. White in Havana, FL. She married at a very young age to the late Henry Johnson, Sr.
Ms. Levy graduated from Moore-Mickens High School in Dade City, FL. She also attended Bethune Cookman College of Nursing in Daytona Beach, FL. In 1985, she retired from the Hernando County School Board as a clinic nurse at Moton School Center.
She was baptized at an early age and truly loved the Lord. She was a faithful member of Mt. Pilgrim Freewill Baptist Church, where she served in many capacities, such as Youth Director, a Member of the Senior Choir, she also utilized her cooking skills in the dining hall for various church functions. When her body grew frail and she was unable to attend services, her devotion to God remained steadfast.
She gained heavens’ wings as she slept peacefully on October 8, 2015 at 8:26am. God is good as she lived to see four generations.
She was a loving mother to six sons, four preceded her in death (Benny O. Hodges, Harold Johnson, Herman Johnson and Herbert Joel Johnson); remaining to cherish her fond memories, two loving and devoted sons, Henry Johnson, Jr. and Howard James Johnson (Myra) all of Brooksville, FL; two devoted granddaughters who she raised as her own, Marilyn Harris (Samuel) of Winter Garden, FL and Licia Roundtree of Brooksville, FL; other granddaughters, Shiphonia Renee Bonamy (Theo), Precious Thomas (Derrell) and Allison Johnson; grandsons, Gerald Hodges (Annjellic), Howard Johnson, Jr. and Herman Andre Johnson; daughter-in-law, Susie Hodges; nieces, Lennie T. Lewis, Gwendolyn White (Willie) and Carla Stewart; special nephew (like a son), James R. Clark and Zinther White (Erma); 26 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren; a loving host of other nieces, nephews and sorrowing friends.
Ms. Levy was a loving, free spirited and caring person. She touched the lives of so many and will be missed dearly. She will be sadly missed by some of her special friends; Mary Taylor, Minnie Stephens, Karaletha Moore, Doris Inmon, Cynthia Williams, Mary Wright, Olga Taliferrio, Doris Love, Edna Brown, Shirley Johnson-Aiken, Sharon Sharpe, Patricia Hutchinson, Eddie Bryant, Annie Mae Walker and Davide Frazier, other nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends.
