On May 16, 1955, Lula Vernice Johnson was born to Bernice Newton-Fletcher and Johnnie Johnson, Jr. (deceased) in Brooksville, FL (Shady Rest). A lifelong resident of Brooksville, she graduated from Hernando High School and was an employee of the State of Florida along with other various jobs. Her favorite jobs were being a mother, grandmother, member/usher of Second Chance Restoration Ministries, Girl Scout Troop Leader and friend. On breaks from her “many” jobs - she loved to fish and crochet.
Lula Jae was blessed with a kind heart, creative and giving nature, warm smile and the ability to put a person in their place when needed all in the face of adversity.
She will always be missed but never forgotten: her children; Tangela Badger, Petitte Badger (deceased), Creola Holland and Connie Holland all of Brooksville; her God-children, LaShawn Pope, Stalicia Roundtree and ReShard Smith, all of Brooksville; her mother, Bernice Newton-Fletcher of Brooksville; five sisters, Jacquelyn Johnson, Cynthia Johnson, Joyce Johnson, Janice Johnson, all of Brooksville and Valecia Johnson of St. Petersburg; two brothers, Wilma Johnson (Barbara) of Orlando and John Smith (Lila) of Brooksville; twelve grandchildren; one great grandchild and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends.
