Obituary for Marie Carter Brown
Deaconess Marie C. Brown, 96, departed this life peacefully, Friday, December 29, 2017, at Gulfside Hospice, Zephyrhills, FL.
She was born on November 20, 1921, In Lloyd, FL to the late James Luke Ammons and Emma Pleas.
Shortly after moving to Dade City in 1940, she joined St. John Missionary Baptist Church, and was a faithful and devoted member for 77 years.
Over the years she served her family, church and community. Her service included: President of the Deaconess Ministry, Trustee Board, Mission Ministry, Sunday School Teacher, BTU, Kitchen Committee and President of Indian Pond Cemetery Committee.
She was married to the late William E. Carter, Sr. and later to the late Frank Brown, Sr.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Luther E. Cason and William E. Carter, Jr.; her daughter, Delia K. Carter and her brother, John Ammons, Sr.
Cherishing her memories are her children, Rejoyce Carter, Louis Carter (Wanda), Agnes Phelps (James), Clyde Carter (Paula) all of Dade City, FL, Martin Carter of Augusta, GA and Frank Brown, Jr. (Shirley) of Hampton, VA; daughters-in-law, Mary G. Cason of Inverness, FL and Charlesnetta Carter of Plymouth Meeting, PA; sisters, Annie Nelson of Tallahassee, FL, Joeann Lewis, Earleen Morgan both of Dade City, FL and Earthalene Horton of Tampa, FL; brothers, Williams Ammons and Joseph Ammons of Dade City, FL; 44 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and sorrowing friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
