A Legacy

A heritage: character, qualities, memoirs…

Mary M. Norton was born May 22, 1920 to Late Viola Robinson and Goldie Norton  in Banks Alabama. She was the eldest child out of 22 children, which eventually left her having to raise some of her youngest siblings, James Norton, Willie McKay, and Lillie Anderson after her mother passed. Later in her life she married the late Willie C. Rump where 1 child was born (Carroll R. Rump). Later in the years she moved to Twin Lakes, FL in 1952, and there she was united with a lovely companion, Willie O’Neal (deceased) and out of that union 3 children were born: Issac, Viola and Carl.

She found Christ at a young age, she taught all of her children and grandchildren the “Lord’s Prayer” and the importance of knowing Jesus and having a personal relationship with the Lord. She joined Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, Brooksville, FL under the leadership of Rev. J.D. Watkins. Later she moved her membership to New Jerusalem Church of God Twin Lake, Brooksville, FL under the leadership of Elder Irene Wells. She was a faithful member of New Jerusalem Church of God Twin Lake and a worker to different auxiliaries; she was the eldest Mother of New Jerusalem Church of God Twin Lake, and anybody that knew her knew she loved the Lord!

On this day, we celebrate the Home Going Service for Mother Mary M. Norton who was called to her heavenly home on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 6:30 a.m.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories: three sons, Carroll Rump (Alice/deceased) of Tampa, FL, Issac Norton of Dade City, FL and Carl L. Norton (Sarah) of Brooksville, FL;  and one loving daughter Viola Hall of Brooksville, FL; two brothers, Willie McKay of Lakeland, FL and James Norton (Catherine/deceased) of St. Petersburg, FL; one sister, Lillie Anderson of Brundidge, AL; a special brother-in-law Rev. James R. Starks (Sis.
