Obituary for Mildred J. Drake
Deaconess Mildred J. Drake, was born on May 30, 1936 in Baker, Florida to the Late Sister Willie Mae Moore. After living in Brooksville, Florida for numerous years, she left Brooksville and moved to Miami, Florida. While living in Miami she got a job working at the famous Fountain Bleu Hotel, where she saw numerous celebrities while being employed there. After living in Miami for several years, she decided that there was no place like home, and she moved from Miami back to Brooksville. Once back in Brooksville, She married Arthur Drake on April 24, 1976, who preceded her in death. She began working various jobs before becoming employed by The Hernando County School Board as a school bus driver. She drove the school bus for over 30 years, later retiring in 2003. While working for The Hernando County School Board, she also worked in the cafeteria at Mitchell L. Black Elementary, serving hot nutritious lunches. She continued to serve the community by working and driving limos for Cason Funeral Service. Deaconess Mildred Drake was a hard worker at Ebenezer M.B. Church where she wore many hats! She was the Church Clerk, Choir Director of both the Ebenezer Junior Choir and The Ebenezer Young Adult Choir. She was President of the Deaconess Board of Ebenezer, a position she held for several years until her health began to fail. She was President of the Pastor Aid Club along with being Ebenezer’s Program Coordinator.

Sadly, on Sunday August 10, 2014, Deaconess Mildred J. Drake was removed from her earthly labor and called home to receive eternal rest. She leave to cherish her memory, her loving daughter, Sister De-De Williams, loving Grand daughter, Quanisha N. Balmer. (2) Brothers: Floyd T. Moore Sr. (Carletha) and Maulty J. Moore (Pam); (3) Sisters: Eloise Moore-Trevillion, Cubie D. Moore and Smitha Moore; (8) Sister & Laws: Ethel Outlaw, Sarah Drake, Willy Mobley, Mamie Davis Pearline Drake, Katie Bryant. Emma Huggins, and Minnie Byrd; (4) Brother & Laws: Major Drake Sr., James H. Hall Sr., George Outlaw and Booker Byrd; Cherished Nieces, Sylvia “Dena” Williams, Gina “Cookie” Hall, Kelandre Gordon D’Meen Moore and Kia Shinhoster; A Very Loving Great-Niece: R. Melisa Jones; Nephews: Floyd Moore II and James T. Moore (Lanitra); God Children: Debra Hicks, Brian Rucker, Deborah Sawyer, Bishop Alvin D. Stewart, Wallace McRae Jr. and Lynn Bey. Special friends Thomas Scrivens (Belinda), Mamie McRae (Wallace), Gertrude Mobley, Pearlie Johnson and Emily Everett. She has a host of very dear friends, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her!
