Obituary for RITA SMITH
RITA SMITH Rita Smith, born June 7, 1944 in Inverness, Florida was the youngest daughter of Calvin and Helen Smith. She graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Inverness, Florida. After earning her Associates Degree, she moved to Miami, Florida. Rita worked for American Bankers Life Assurance Company in Miami for over 20 years where she was employed as a key punch operator and then later promoted to a computer operator. Rita possessed an astute business mind, she was fluent in Spanish, an avid reader, and she also played the piano. During her years of retirement she hoped to master the art of sewing, and continue on her journey of fulfilling the Lord’s purpose in her life. Prior to returning to Inverness, FL one year ago, Rita lived in North Miami Beach, FL where she was a member of Antioch Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Arthur Jackson. She leaves behind her half brother, Elijah Chester, Brother-in-laws, Kasib Mateen (T.J.) and Felton Wells, nieces, Natalie Dennis-Peak and husband Ronald, Kameelah St. Julien and husband Richard, Naellen Solomon and husband Willie, Roseandra and Eleanor Criag, and nephews Gregory Dennis, Terry Wells, Michael Wells, Karim Shareef (f/k/a Reginald Dennis) Thomas Dennis, Calton Wells, Bryon Wells, Darrell Wells, over 60 grand and great-grand nieces and nephews, as well as a host of cousins forever touched by her life. She will missed by both family and friends.
