Deacon Richard Hudson, Jr.
Deacon Richard Hudson, Jr. was born February 28, 1942, in Ashburn, Georgia to the late Richard and Alice Hudson. He departed this life peacefully on September 4, 2017, at the age of 75.
Richard attended the public schools of Hernando County, where he was a star football player at Moton High School. He worked in the Brooksville Mining Industry for over 40 years until his retirement. Being the great family provider that he always was, he also retired from the Hernando County School System after 20 years, as the supervisor of janitorial services at Central High School. In his spare time and as a great hobby, he was an avid Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Catherine Timmons Hudson and two siblings, Christine Taylor and Mary (Charles) Griffin.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories: Children – Angela (Charles) Bottom (Brooksville), Janice Greene (Orlando), Richard (Teri) Hudson, III. (Brooksville), Malcolm Hudson (Brooksville), Elvira Hudson-Fribley (Brooksville) - Siblings, Ruby Lee Revell (Brooksville), Annie Elliott (Brooksville), Alice Mae Pollard-Marshell (Apopka), Johnnie Lee (Lois) Hudson (Brooksville), Willie Gene (Sabrina) Hudson (Miramar), Freddie Lee (Annie Pearl) Hudson (Brooksville), Ricardo (Althea) Hudson (Brooksville). –Granddaughters: Nicole Young, Patricia Cook, Shaterica Marks, Ceceila (Luke) Sanders, Shakedra Hudson, Charlette Bottom; Olivia Hudson - Grandsons: Anthony Brown, George Fribley, III., Jonathan Greene (Delicia), Malcolm Hudson, Jr. , Richard Hudson, IV and Jaylen Harris, 11 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and sorrowing friends.
“Don’t cry for me, I’m not gone. My soul is at rest, my heart lives on. Light a candle for me to see and hold on to my memory, but save your tears, for I’m still here, by your side through the years.”
