Obituary for Ruby Mae Fletcher
Ruby Mae Willis Fletcher was born in Sparta, Georgia on June 14, 1928 to George and Sarah Chester. She was the 8th child born into this large family. At a young age, the family moved to Brooksville, Fl; where Ruby attended the school system in Hernando County.


Ruby enrolled at Florida A&M College to become a beautician. She graduated with a degree in cosmetology. After graduation, she returned to Brooksville and became one of the first black licensed cosmetogologist in the area. She also, was a long-time Insurance Agent for Central Life. In addition, she was a school bus driver for the Hernando County School System until she retired.

Her favorite pasttime was fishing and attending her beloved Mt. Zion A.M.E Church. She was a very devoted member and held several positions in the church.

She was preceded in death by her grandson, Fred Willis Fletcher, Jr. Her siblings: Eddie, Robert, John, Annie, Bishop, Harry, JP and Walter.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children: Barbara Fletcher of Brooksville, FL, Fred Willis Fletcher of Brooksville, FL, Felix Fletcher and Bonnie Ambrose of Lewisville, TX; Inease Inmon of Richmond, VA and Felicia “Lisa” Bristol of St. Petersburg, FL.

Grandchildren: Gelita and Gary Smith of Tampa, FL and Dionne and Timothy Atkins of Covington, GA. Anthony Carter of Columbia, SC., Vashawn Carter of Atlanta, GA, Devan Bristol of Brooksville, FL. Shawn Rodgers, Kord Rogers, Kayla Hasty, Linnea Henry and Chance Henry of St. Petersburg, FL and Diane Fletcher of Atlanta, GA

Her great-grandchildren are Britni Baker, Phillip Smith and Janiah Smith of Tampa, FL, Brianna Hollomon and Nicholas Jean of Covington, GA, Eric Fletcher, Joneshia Fletcher, Amir Fletcher, Nyla Fletcher and Fred W. Fletcher, III of Atlanta, GA and Amir Carter of Columbia, SC. Devan Bristol, Jr of Brooksville, FL. Sister: Inez Inmon of St. Petersburg, FL. Sister-in-laws: Edna Willis and Erma Jean Willis of Brooksville, FL

She has a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
