Walter “Big Walt” Brown, Sr.
Resident of Brooksville, Florida. Walter passed away peacefully at Hospice in Brooksville, Florida. Walter was born and raised in Safford, Alabama and moved to Brooksville, Florida in January 1960. He worked for the City of Brooksville before his retirement. He was one of thirteen children born to the late James and Mammie Brown. Walter was the beloved husband and best friend of Edith Joyce Brown for over 51 years.
Walter will forever be remembered by his devoted brothers Leroy Brown of Tuscaloosa, AL and Coleman Brown of Birmingham, AL; loving sisters, Lizzie Austin and Lucy Acoff (Frank) both of Birmingham, AL; his beloved children, Ruby McKenzie (Greg) of Brooksville, FL, Walter Brown II (Jenna) of Spring Hill, FL, Joe Brown (Dorothy), Kenneth Brown, Melvin Brown (Angelina) , Charles Brown (Lisa), Tracy Brown (Abbie), Anthony Brown (Sheree) and Jacqueline Clark (Clarence) all of Brooksville, FL; his beloved mother-in-law, Ruby Mae Rutledge and father-in-law, Brooks Warmley, six sisters-in-law, Annie P. Brown, Roberta Brown, Wilma Thomas, Patricia Byrd, Rose Edwards, Erica Rutledge and Mattie Lee Pickett; his five brothers-in-law, Frank Acoff, Charles Rutledge, Harace Rutledge, Rickey Thomas, and Joe Byrd. He was blessed to have thirty-four grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, thirty-five great-grand children , twenty-three nephews, sixteen nieces, twenty three nephews, sixteen nieces, twenty-one great nephews, and twenty-two great nieces along with countless other cousins and freins whom were blessed to know him.
Walter loved joking around laughing, being with his family, hunting coons, colleting scrap metal for salvage and having fun wth friends. Walter touched the lives of many people with his smile, generosity, and maintained his trademark sense of humor all the way to the end.
