Robert C. Lindsey
The Sunrise
Robert C. Lindsey was born March 13,1948 in Bradley Junction Florida to his parents Ernest and Georgia Mae Lindsey who preceded him in death.
The Journey
He attended Howard W. Blake High and in 1965. he enlisted in the United States Navy serving on the USS Clarion River (LSMR409) in which he was awarded several honors including a Republic of Vietnam Service Medal with silver Star, National Defense Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Navy Unit Commendation Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with bronze star the only enlisted soldier out of six recipients to receive such an honor. He would later receive an honorable discharge after nearly ten years of service.
He attended the United Electronics Institute and became an electrician by trade eventually retiring as a driver for Midway Transportation. He would later attend the Florida School of Preaching and received an A.A. in 1988. He was a minister to Southside Church of Christ and Groveland Church of Christ as well as Associate Minister to Nassau Street Church of Christ. He would marry Matlene Benjamin and this union would last over 35 years.
The Sunset
On May 23, 2016, he departed this earth leaving behind many to cherish his loving memory, wife Matlene Lindsey, children Melynda (Kelvin) Allen, Robin Rogers, Le’Anthony (Jodie) Hastings, Rita Haugabrook, Robert Lindsey, Jr. (Heather), and Sherman Henderson, siblings Maxine (Jerome) Sims, Virginia Singleton , Loretta (Bobby) Burns, Bobbie (William) Anderson, Helen (Brett) Johnson, Carolyn McHenry and Abe “Chuck” Lindsey, in Laws Willie Matthiew (Wynetta) and Verlyn Crompton (Joseph) 35 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Best friends, Robert Lee Moore and Eddie Bradwell and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
