Rev. Dr. Genevieve Taylor Spears
The sunset “beyond the horizon on Wednesday November 20, 2013.” Genevieve, Madear said goodbye to Mortality and hello to Immortality as she answered God’s Summons, she realized life beyond the grave.
Genevieve Taylor Spears has to cherish her memories; A loving and devoted husband Deacon O. S. Spears; Sons, Marion L. Jones Sr., Wife F. Jones and The late Apostle Lester A. Jones and Wife Pastor G. Jones of Orlando, FL, Wayne Page and Wife S. Page; Daughter Judy C. Badger and Husband Elder R. J. Badger Sr.; thirteen Grandchildren, eighteen Great Grandchildren and six Great-Great Grandchildren; Sister, Mary A. Johnson and Husband Jr. Johnson; Brother, Walter Taylor Jr. and Wife Jerry Taylor; Niece, Ann L. Rogers and Husband the late Charles Rogers; and a Great Host of Nieces and Nephews; Brother-In-Law, David Spears and Wife Fannie Spears; Brother-In-Law John H. Spears and Wife the late Sallie Spears of Alabama.
Genevieve confessed her Hope in Christ in 1970 at Josephine Church of the Living God, Brooksville, Florida. She served as an usher and Co-Pastor for twelve years. She also served as a Program Director, State Ambassador, State Advisory Board of Ordination Licensing , coordinated many workshops both Statewide and National of the General Assembly. In November 2001, Genevieve founded Damascus Mission Faith Outreach Inc. in Ridge Manor, FL where she mentored and counseled countless Ministers and Parishioners. She served as Pastor from 2001-2011 and led countless community outreach projects in Pasco and Hernando Counties. Her impact and legacy will be championed for generations to come.
Genevieve attended primary school walking two miles a day to Blue Sink and attended Moton High School in Hernando County. Genevieve continued her education earning her AA degree from PHCC and an executive house degree, LPN Nursery from HCC. Genevieve completed the Montessori Program at St Leo College and received then highest level of training adult in Education at USF As a minister of the gospel. She received her Master’s Degree from Nova Southeastern University, Doctor of Divinity from the Tennessee School of Religion-Tuskegee Extension and many accolades and awards from Central Alabama Bible School, Inc. Genevieve, the first Black LPN in Hernando County, was employed at Lykes Memorial Hospital in Brooksville, FL. She was employed in the Hernando County school system where she started the first teen parenting daycare program in the coun ty, teaching the largest adult education class that year.
