Early Wednesday morning November 6, 2013 our beloved Dorothy Snowden entered into her eternal rest at Hernando Pasco Hospice Care Center. She was born April 15, 1949 in Uniontown, Alabama to the late Richard Williams and Maggie Williams Goodson.
Dorothy accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and    joined    Ebenezer    Missionary   Baptist   Church,   Brooksville, FL. She was educated at Moton High School. After graduation she moved to Middletown, NY. Relocating after several years, to Monticello, NY, where she met and married the love of her life John   Snowden for 40 years. This union was blessed with two children.
She was employed at Monticello Hospital which was renamed Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris, NY for over 44 years as a Radiology Clerk. She was very dedicated and loved her job. She was  a member of the First Baptist Church, Monticello, NY where she served faithfully on the Kimmons Memorial Scholarship Fund. She was always one to assist when there was a need.
Dorothy was a member of the NAACP, Local 1199 SEIU, NY, NY and the Dream Tank (Dynamic-Realization-Enrichment-Actualization-Motivation) member an organization that assisted troubled youth.
After retirement she returned to her  home town,  Brooksville, FL and became affiliated with Holy Band Deliverance Temple Church.
She was a loving devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Dorothy loved her family and took on a mothers role for all of younger sisters and brothers.
Having a green thumb her house was always filled with plants. Shopping and cleaning always kept her busy.
Dorothy was well known as Mommy, Grandma, Dot, Dottie, DJ, Dorothy Jean and Auntie.
The Lord turned and saw the most beautiful flower and said come home my child.
She leaves to cherish her memories: Her devoted husband, John Snowden of Brooksville, FL; one son, Dwayne (Joyce) Williams, Sr. of Brooksville, FL; one daughter, Tawana (Michael)   Huggins   of    Brooksville,   FL;   father-in-law,   Levon    Snowden, Sr. of Monticello,   NY;    step-father,    Lonzie   Goodson   of Tampa,  FL;  five sisters, Dora Williams of Uniontown, AL, Ella (Levon) Snowden of Monticello, NY, Alfreeda (Robert) Harrington of   Brooksville,   FL,    Geraldine   (Joe)   Jackson   and    Rose Williams of Brooksville, FL; four brothers, Richard (Farris) Williams of Brooksville, FL, Leo (Ella) Davis of Worchester, MA, Ronald (Tina) Williams of Brooksville, FL and Charlie (Deanna) Williams of Laurel, MD; three grandchildren, Dwayne, Jr., Dauntevian and Shyaria; two God daughters, Lytasha Miller and Carmen Santos of Monticello, NY; one step-brother, Lonzie Goodson, Jr. of Tampa, FL; two aunts, Ida Madison of New York, NY and Minnie Benjamin of Fort Wayne, IN; four uncles, David (Laverne) Williams of St. Louis, MO, Archie (Emma) Williams and Eugene Williams of Fort Wayne, IN and Rufus Williams of Uniontown, AL; two brothers-in-law, Robert (Juanita) Snowden of Raleigh, NC and Michael (JoAnn) Snowden of Monticello, NY; two sisters-in-law, Mary Hopkins of Monticello, NY and Mamie (Kenneth) Ward of Raleigh, NC; special friend, Evelyn Cozart of Monroe, NY; host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
