Annie Mae
Chester Lawson

Was born on December 17, 1930, in Sparta, Georgia, to the parents of the late George and Eula Chester.  She was born the 9th of ten children with eight of her siblings having been placed to rest.

Sis. Lawson moved to Brooksville, Florida and attended school in Hernando County.  She later graduated from Florida A&M University with a degree in Early Childhood Education.  Having a love and passion for her occupation, she educated students for 33 years.

Sis. Lawson accepted Christ into her life at an early age and became a faithful servant at Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church where she served in a number of capacities to include: Senior Choir Treasurer, Usher Board President, Stewardess Board and Missionary Society.  She was a member of Queen Elizabeth Chapter #122, the Heroines of Jericho, City Wide Mission, Black Educator’s Caucus, Fredrick Kelly Elks Lodge, Friendly Twelve Club and the Minister’s Laymen’s Alliance.

She was a dedicated wife of 63 years, a mother full of wisdom, a loving sister, impassioned educator and dedicated servant.  She touched the lives of many people with her generosity, wisdom and smile.

On January 8, 2013, Sister Annie Mae Chester Lawson departed peacefully from this life at home amongst her loved ones.  She leaves to cherish her memory a loving husband, Samuel; two children, Lewis C. Lawson and Pamela Lawson, both of Brooksville, Florida; one brother, Clifford (Geraldine) Chester of Ocala, Florida; six sister-in-laws, Carrie Chester of Tampa, Florida, Gladys Chester and Charlotte Chester both of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Erma Willis of Lakeland, Florida, Marion Spires of Bradenton, Florida, Vera Chester and Francis Oliver both of Brooksville, Florida; five grandchildren, Erica Lawson, Ciera Brown, and Montoya Lawson of Brooksville, Florida, Andrew Lawson of Atlanta, Georgia, and Tarriq Lawson of Tallahassee, Florida; four great grandchildren, Ryan Denson, Shemar Lawson, Aaniyah Delaine of Brooksville, Florida and Tarriq Lawson, Jr. of Tallahassee, Florida as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other sorrowing surrogate relatives and friends.

Although she will be deeply missed, we take comfort in knowing that she finished her course, kept the faith and was ready to be offered up unto the Lord.
